WestJet’s 2021 Christmas Miracle Video Is Out (Spoiler: It’s A Tear Jerker)

by SharonKurheg

WestJet has been running its annual “Christmas Miracle” campaign since 2012. They have annual company wide initiatives such that every year they do something different to spread some holiday cheer. They videotape their good deeds and then share the video(s) with the world. As we’ve said in the past, the videos are sweet, heartwarming, uplifting, and the perfect examples of what people can do during the holiday season to make others’ lives better.

All of WestJet’s previous videos through 2019 are in this link, along with the cool stuff several other airline have done in past holiday seasons (the airlines are in alphabetical order, so WestJet’s links are towards the end of the page).

Thanks to the pandemic and inability to travel, their 2020 video focused on giving simple things to those who needed the most – they gave blankets, personal protective equipment, and food to shelters, hot meals to frontline workers, and gifts to seniors and children to share holiday spirit.

2021 was a different year, in that, with vaccines, there was hope for people to see their loved ones again. From WestJet’s web page:

Real people. Real stories. From lockdowns, porch visits and postponed reunions to missing holiday traditions, Christmas 2020 created distance for everyone. As a company built on care and connection, we wanted to help Canadians make up for lost time by granting the Christmas wishes that matter most: connecting you to your loved ones.

Here’s the video. Grab a tissue 😉

Although it gives them and their partners (this year it’s The Fives Oceanfront, BDExperience, Accord Hospitality, AMR Connection and Karisma Hotels & Resorts) a bunch of free publicity, it’s still a sweet gesture and, I’m sure, deeply appreciated.

Have a good week, travel friends!
