The McRib Is Coming Back To McDonald’s! Here’s How To Find It

by SharonKurheg

Ah, the McRib! For the uninitiated, it’s a culinary treat that’s only available at McDonald’s periodically.

Initially introduced in 1981, the barbeque-flavored pork sandwich was a relatively poor seller and removed from menus in 1985. It’s since come back every few years, sold for a limited time, usually only in a handful of participating restaurants, and then “put back in the vault.” Well, except in Germany and Luxembourg, where it’s still permanent parts of their respective menus.

But really, talk about travel – people have actually made road trips and have FLOWN TO GERMANY to buy McRib sandwiches!

The last time the McRib has been available nationally in the U.S. was in 2011. But Americans won’t have to wait much longer because it’s finally making a nationwide comeback, for a limited time of course, starting on December 2, 2020.

The beloved sandwich was supposed to make its nationwide appearance in late October, but 2020 being 2020, well, of course there was a delay. Rumor has it was because of constraints in the pork supply line due to COVID. But apparently the pork market is stabilizing, so December 2 is the confirmed date (but always subject to change) for the McRib to be back.

Since this is scheduled to be a nationwide reintroduction, one would think/hope it would be available in all McDonald’s locations. However in case it’s not, there’s a website that can help you locate where McRib sandwiches are being sold. It’s called, what else but, McRib Locator.

McRib Locator (which is available online and on Android. They’re in the planning phase for an iOS app) uses crowdsourcing to let fans know where McRib sandwiches have been spotted. Sightings are only posted a “question marks” until they’ve been confirmed via proof in the form of a cash register receipt showing that a McRib was purchased at that location. It’s a good way to get an idea of where McRibs have been spotted “in the wild” during the times when they pop up here and there.

Like the website that helps you avoid every McDonald’s with a broken ice cream machine, McRib Locator is not an “official” app but merely a labor of love done by fans.

Anyway, if you’re a fan of the McRib, get ready because Christmas is coming…and December 2 is coming even before that. Bon appetite!

The McRib locator is absolutely worthless.
You might want to try checking it out before praising it.
