What To Do When Your Flight Is Delayed By The Weather

It’s summertime and that means we’re entering prime leisure travel season in the U.S. Kids are out of school and families are going on trips they planned all year. Unfortunately, this is also the time of the year where the weather can wreak havoc on airline travel on an almost daily basis. Living in Orlando, we’re accustomed to severe weather blowing through all the time. Here’s a picture a friend of ours took looking from one side of the car and then the other.

With sudden changes to the weather being the norm for six months out of the year, we’re used to experiencing weather delays when flying. Be Careful, Flights Can Become Un-Delayed

Sharon and I have recently experienced this situation on two separate occasions, so I’m sharing it with everyone. Not knowing that this type of flight time change is possible can result in you missing your flight and needing to be rebooked on a later flight, hours to days later than you intended to travel.

What am I talking about when I say a flight can be un-delayed? Well, I’m sure there’s a more technically accurate term for this, but I’m not an expert, just a regular passenger. It’s easiest to explain by showing what happened to us on a recent flight from Orlando to New York – LaGuardia on American Airlines.

Lounge Review: No1 Lounge London Gatwick North Terminal (Priority Pass Lounge)

For our flight home from London, we booked a non-stop on Virgin Atlantic from Gatwick Airport to Orlando. After taking the Thameslink train from St. Pancras station, we arrived at the Gatwick South Terminal. Since we were departing from the North Terminal, we had to take the train between the two terminals, which only took a few extra minutes.

After checking in at the Virgin Atlantic Premium class desk, we went through security and entered the main North terminal area. I did a quick search and found that with Priority Pass we had access to three lounges in the Gatwick North Terminal. The No1 Lounge looked nice so we headed there. Since all the lounges are in the same area, we could have left and headed to a different one if it wasn’t nice or if it was full. We arrived at the lounge at 11:15 AM and our flight was leaving at 1PM so we wouldn’t have a ton of time to sit around anyway.
