How To Get The Best Boarding Position On Southwest. Hint: It’s Not Early Bird

Southwest has one of the easiest boarding systems to understand. You line up based on the number on your boarding pass. There are three groups, A, B and C, with passengers numbered 1-60 in each letter group. There’s no assigned seating. When you board, you can pick any available seat. What To Do If You Forget To Buy EarlyBird Check-In When You Purchase Southwest Tickets

This is crucial when flying from Orlando since Family Boarding takes place between the A and B groups and in Orlando that might as well be an announcement saying “Anyone except Joe and Sharon, please board now.”

Waiting until the last minute to buy EarlyBird, everyone who already purchased it will get places ahead of us in line but we’ll still have to pay the same price.

So what are my options?
