United’s New Ad Tells You Not To Stand In Line At The Airport & They’re Not Wrong

by joeheg

United Airlines just put a new ad on their social media channels to let people know there are other ways to contact the airline instead of standing in line at the airport.

The fifteen-minute “film” created by 72andSunny LA, accurately depicts what it’s like to stand in line at an airport counter with one agent. Spoiler alert, one woman is at the counter for almost the entire time.

The video plays on YouTube’s “Skip Ad” button and asks if you’d like to have a “Skip Line” button at the airport.  Of course, United is trying to get people to use their app to chat with a representative instead of waiting to speak to an overworked airport agent.

Of course, we’ve already given you this trick when your flight gets delayed or canceled.

Your first option should try to see if you can rebook yourself with your computer or phone. Next is trying to contact someone through chat or social media channels. Finally, you could try to get someone on the phone or your last option would be to wait to speak to an agent at the airport.

If you’re fortunate enough to have lounge access, or if the airline allows you to pay for it, that is one of your best choices because the agents there will probably be less stressed plus they’re usually the most knowledgeable to help you to get to your destination. That’s why airline lounge access is worth more than snack mix.

United getting real with passengers and suggesting the airport line is the worst and you’re going to be stuck behind someone to rebuild an around-the-world ticket at the counter is the most 2022 thing I’ve seen.

Kudos to United Airlines, even if it’s only because they’re driving customers to a more efficient way to solve a problem from a busted itinerary.
