When Joe and I went to Austria in 2016, we stayed at the Goldener Hirsch, in Salzburg. The most amazing thing happened when we arrived to check-in. We got up to the front desk and saw that the clerk was on the phone. So we quietly waited. He saw us approach and although he had been speaking German on the phone, he momentarily stopped the conversation to tell us in English he’d be right with us.
He told us in English. How did he know? Is it really that obvious? The bellhops had already taken our luggage and we had no telltale signs of being Americans – not even a baseball cap! 😉 But yeah, it seems that we’re pretty easy to pinpoint.
A similar topic was brought up on Reddit a while back; “Besides their accent, what’s one way you know a tourist is American?” The answers were very interesting:

There isn’t an airline out there that some people don’t want to fly on, for some reason or another. For us, it’s United. Others can’t stand American. Looking over at the other side of the pond, Ryanair has certainly not made many friends over the years (this example is my favorite).
Of course, for each of these examples, as well as with any other, there are people who like or even love each of those airlines that some of us love to hate. However, there’s one U.S. airline that I think we can agree that none of us would ever hope to be on…

You get your passport out and OH NO, It expires in a month! You’ll be there and back before the actual expiration date, but is that good enough? I mean, you can still travel internationally with a passport that’s so close to its expiration date, right? As long as it hasn’t actually expired, you’re OK, yes?
Well, it depends.

We’d all love if the world was one big, happy global family but now, possibly more than ever, that’s definitely not the case. The reason(s) behind their not liking us usually have nothing to do with us as individual people as much as how politics, economics, American ideals, habits, attitudes, etc. all play roles in international relationships.
On the other hand, there are some countries that love the U.S. and much of what it stands for.
Whatever the case, knowing which countries like the U.S. and/or Americans vs. those that harbor bad feelings about us might be an influence for some people as to whether or not they visit said country. As always, Your Mileage May Vary.
So with that in mind, here are the top ten countries that have unfavorable views of Americans and the top ten countries that do.
