This Might Be The Coolest New Thing To Ever Happen At Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans (NOLA) have been running since the late 1830s. At first it was just a regular parade (for the time period), with street processions of maskers with carriages and horseback riders. “Throws” began sometime around 1870, which were followed a few years later with floats. Industry and technology have improved every aspect of Mardi Gras every since, but this year NOLA’s City Hall has released something that will make attending Mardi Gras a whole lot easier for revelers.

The Travel Blogger Who Got To Visit The Cinderella Castle Suite In Walt Disney World

As you walk up Main Street USA in Walt Disney World, Cinderella Castle is the majestic structure in front of you.

MainStCastle

Measuring 183 feet tall, with 27 spires, it was the largest Disney theme park castle in the world until the completion of the Enchanted Storybook Castle in Shanghai Disneyland Park in 2016.

The castle houses a restaurant and a children’s beauty salon called Bippity Boppity Boutique, the latter of which was previously a retail store before BBB opened in 2007. Both the restaurant and salon are open to the public, albeit by reservations only (and good luck trying to get a Cinderella’s Royal Table reservation less than 180 days out). There is one more space in the castle that’s even more difficult for the public to get a peek of – the Cinderella Castle Suite. Most people never get a chance to see it, but we know of a travel blogger who did…

Hey, Did You Know That We Have A Facebook Group?

If you’re new to our travel blog, you may not know that we also have a Facebook Group that’s 100% devoted to travel. We’d just LOVE if you would join us!

Travel: Disney, the US, Points, Miles, Savings & Everything Everywhere Else features past and present posts from Your Mileage May Vary, as well as travel-related posts from other bloggers and various forms of mainstream (and not so mainstream) media outlets. We also offer daily money-saving deals, and funny or introspective looks at all types of travel. And if you’re a Disney fan, heads up that we put at least one special focus on Disney parks just about every day, usually with “different” stuff that the larger Disney blogs generally don’t focus on.

FB Travel Board PicWe’re proud that our group has nearly 5,000 members who live all around the world and many who have traveled all around it, too – the U.S., Canada, Australia, Central America, South America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and all over Europe and the U.K. (we have LOTS of people from every part of the U.K.)! So if you’re traveling internationally, chances are good we have people who can answer questions and give advice, either because they live there and/or they’ve visited there.

We also offer the opportunity for other Facebook groups to let our members know they’re out there, in case they’d like to join other groups that focus on travel to specific places (Orlando, Universal, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Lapland, etc.), travel in certain situations (with kids, without kids, fans of specific hotel brands, issues with certain travel companies, people of size, etc.), saving money on travel, or just travel in general.

So yeah – Travel: Disney, the US, Points, Miles, Savings & Everything Everywhere Else (we weren’t purposely trying for the longest FB group name in history, but we wanted to include a lot of everything we talk about in the group, so there ya go). Hope to see you there!

Like this post? Please share it! We have plenty more just like it and would love if you decided to hang around and clicked the button on the top (if you’re on your computer) or the bottom (if you’re on your phone/tablet) of this page to follow our blog and get emailed notifications of when we post (it’s usually just two or three times a day). Or maybe you’d like to join our Facebook group (HEY, DID YA KNOW WE HAVE A FACEBOOK GROUP? LOLOL!), where we talk and ask questions about travel (including Disney parks), creative ways to earn frequent flyer miles and hotel points, how to save money on or for your trips, get access to travel articles you may not see otherwise, etc. Whether you’ve read our posts before or this is the first time you’re stopping by, we’re really glad you’re here and hope you come back to visit again!
