Lounge Review: No1 Lounge London Gatwick North Terminal (Priority Pass Lounge)

For our flight home from London, we booked a non-stop on Virgin Atlantic from Gatwick Airport to Orlando. After taking the Thameslink train from St. Pancras station, we arrived at the Gatwick South Terminal. Since we were departing from the North Terminal, we had to take the train between the two terminals, which only took a few extra minutes.

After checking in at the Virgin Atlantic Premium class desk, we went through security and entered the main North terminal area. I did a quick search and found that with Priority Pass we had access to three lounges in the Gatwick North Terminal. The No1 Lounge looked nice so we headed there. Since all the lounges are in the same area, we could have left and headed to a different one if it wasn’t nice or if it was full. We arrived at the lounge at 11:15 AM and our flight was leaving at 1PM so we wouldn’t have a ton of time to sit around anyway.

Lounge Review: Wingtips Lounge New York JFK T4 (Priority Pass Lounge)

We recently needed to spend a few hours at JFK Airport’s Terminal 4. I booked a positioning flight to JFK on Delta before our Virgin Atlantic flight to London in Premium Economy but wasn’t sure if we’d need to reclear security when changing terminals (we didn’t). Besides paying to enter the Delta SkyClub with my Gold Delta AMEX, I had no other access a lounge beside entering the Wingtips Lounge with my Priority Pass card. This seems to be the lounge of last resort for many travelers but was our only free option. Here’s what you can expect if you’re able to get in.

As I said, I scheduled some extra time into our connection just in case there were any problems with going from a Delta to a Virgin Atlantic flight. Thankfully there were none, so we had plenty of time to spend in the lounge. Our flight arrived around 6PM and our departing flight was leaving at 10PM, with boarding starting around 9:30PM.

Sharon and I walked to the Wingtips Lounge. The lounge is located on the upper level of Terminal 4 so we had to take an elevator from the main level with all the shops. This is the same location as the Swiss and El Al lounges.

The Wingtips lounge is the contract lounge for many of the airlines leaving from T4.

The First Casualty Of LoungeBuddy’s Purchase By American Express

Much has been speculated of what intent American Express had for LoungeBuddy. AMEX announced the acquisition on March 11, 2019 and the deal was finalized on April 1st. It didn’t take long for the first casualty of the purchase to materialize.

As of April 15, 2019, the $25 LoungeBuddy credit for TripIt Pro users will disappear.

I’d imagine this perk needed to go away since American Express is now only allowing the purchase of lounge passes to American Express cardholders.
