I’ve heard you get outsized value for your hotel points when visiting Asia. That’s especially true right now. An example of this was our visit to the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa. I’m still shaking my head that this is only a Hyatt Category 3 property (AND survived the recent World of Hyatt devaluations).
This hotel was booked as part of our Adventures by Disney trip so we didn’t “pay” for our room. I discovered that our stay was ineligible for WoH credit because it was part of a group rate. After staying for 3 nights in Ho Chi Minh City, I wasn’t sure what to expect from our stay in Danang.
Full Disclosure: My knowledge of the area was it was where my father spent time as a Marine during the Vietnam War. One of my most significant points accomplishments was helping him use Delta SkyMiles to visit Vietnam (and the rest of Southeast Asia) in 2015.
The last thing I expected was a beach resort rivaling what you’d see in the Caribbean or Hawaii. If it weren’t so far away, I’d prefer visiting here than the Bahamas, Aruba or Mexico.
I’m breaking my review into two parts since there are too many pictures. In this post, I’ll focus on the check-in process, amenities and our room. In the next post, I’ll review the property including the bars/restaurants, pool, beach and the pros and cons (yes, there were some negatives) of staying here.

We arrived with our group late in the evening. We waited in the lobby for our guides to get our keys and direct us to our rooms.
Sharon and I were assigned a One King Bed Ocean View room that was a short walk from the lobby. As you find at many beach resorts, the public areas are open-air.
Entering the room, we were blown away by the size of the room and how stylish it was.
The room included a large walk-in closet.
The bathroom area was open to the rest of the room but there were sliding glass doors to separate the space if you desired.
The shower and tub were in their own room. As an interesting design choice, the room has a floor-to-ceiling window behind the tub. I guess this would be nice if you want to look at the ocean while soaking in the tub but it’s awkward when you’re taking a shower. A blackout shade behind the tub provides privacy if you so desire.
The toilet is in its own room on the other side of the bathroom area, which includes a toilet phone.
The deck has two chairs with a table and a sleeper lounge chair.
Our view from the outdoor space wasn’t anything to complain about.
The room included an in-room safe.
However, even the hotel tells you that an in-room safe isn’t that safe.
There was a decent amount of amenities in the room. If you needed additional items, they were available upon request.
I don’t have enough good things to say about this hotel. I can’t believe it costs fewer World of Hyatt points than a night at the Orlando Airport Hyatt Regency. If I were on Instagram, this hotel has many places suitable for photo shoots.
I can’t say enough about this resort and what a surprise it was. I wished we’d stayed an extra day or two in Danang as it was our favorite place during our visit to Vietnam.

The Regency Club at his hotel is amazing – breakfast and evening buffets with a large selection of food and drinks and very helpful staff.
The club was the one part of the hotel we weren’t able to visit. All of our meals while on the property were part of our tour package (except for one lunch.)
I stayed here last April of 22 right after Vietnam opened for visitors. Got upgraded to beautiful room with 2 bathrooms and 2 decks. Resort is beautiful with large pool. Staff and food is outstanding. Only negative is no place to walk to. Out away from center of Da Nang.
The Intercontinental Danang is out of this world and one of the best places that I’ve ever stayed.
Very interesting. I think you were there the same time my family was. (mid Jan?) I saw the “Adventures by Disney” sign at the Terrasse and was curious what that was about
We were there in February. There was a tour there before us in January. Disney has just restarted the Southeast Asia itinerary. The Hyatt in Danang is a new addition as the previous hotel has yet to reopen.
