One of the distinctive things about the World of Hyatt loyalty program is the Brand Explorer benefit. Like all other major hotel companies, Hyatt has several chains under its umbrella. At the current count, there are 26 unique Hyatt brands. To incentivize staying at different Hyatt brands (and possibly like the experience), the Hyatt Explorer benefit provides a free night at a category 1-4 hotel for every 5 brands you visit.
I just hit my 5th Hyatt brand after our stay at the Park Hyatt Saigon.
That’s a bougie list for someone who claims to like staying at Holiday Inn Express as much as a Grand Hyatt. While it’s possible for me to hit 10 brands (knocking off Hyatt House, Hyatt Place, Hyatt Centric and Andaz shouldn’t be hard), what if we stay at another Hyatt Regency or Unbound Collection hotel?
I’ll be no closer to a free night than before. However, Sharon just signed up for World of Hyatt while staying at the Grand Hyatt SFO. Her board is wide open.
If we stay at any Hyatt brand, it’ll make sense to book it under Sharon’s name. I’d lose out on my Discoverist benefits but that’s not losing very much. I’ll need to use our three free night certificates before I put this plan into action but I think most of our upcoming Hyatt stays will be under Sharon’s account until we get another Brand Explorer free night.
Taking advantage of these opportunities is one perk of having two people playing the points game.
