Check Your Chase Cards For Bonus Spending Offers

by joeheg

It’s time to check your Chase cards because they have targeted some co-brand accounts with bonus spending offers. I received emails for two of our accounts.

The first offer was for our IHG Premier card.

We can earn 7X IHG One Rewards points at gas stations and 5X points at grocery stores and on internet, cable and phone services.

We also received an offer for Sharon’s legacy Marriott Bonvoy Rewards card.

This offer was for 5x points across the same categories of gas, groceries and internet/cable/phone.

If you haven’t yet received an email, don’t worry because the promotion period doesn’t start until January 15th. You have until March 31st to enroll. Looking at the terms, you’ll earn bonus points on all purchases made during the promotional period as long as you register by the deadline.

If you’d rather not wait for an email, you can check your cards by going to https://www.chase.com/mybonus and entering your last name, the last 4 digits of your account, and zip code.

I tried all of our Chase cards. Unfortunately, no offer was available on our World of Hyatt Visa card.

However, I did find an offer for the Disney Visa card.

This offer is for the same categories but is more valuable than the offer on our IHG and Marriott cards. With the Disney offer, I’ll earn 5% back. For the others, I’ll only earn 5-7 points which are worth 0.5 to 0.8 cents each.

After the promotion starts, I’ll recheck my other cards. Chase has staggered adding offers to accounts in the past, and it only takes a minute or two to check.

Final Thoughts

These offers will shift some of my spending patterns. I’m already earning 5% back with my Discover card for groceries, so there is no change. Our internet/cable bill goes on our Ink Cash for the 5X Ultimate Rewards points. I pay our cell phone bill with a card that provides insurance coverage.

But I’ve only been earning 3X points at gas stations with our Citi Premier card. Those charges will shift to the Disney Visa card to make 5% back.

Of course, your situation could be different if you want to earn Marriott or IHG points.
