Free CLEAR Reservations Arrives in 4 More Canada Airports

by SharonKurheg

CLEAR is doing its best to be many things.

It got its big break in the travel world, of course, as an alternate “skip the TSA queue” option in select airports throughout the U.S.

As virtual queuing reservation systems began showing up in airports as a way to not have to stand in TSA queues, CLEAR was there to dip its foot in that pool, too. They’ve since been slowly introducing reservation systems at select airports in the U.S.

In May, 2022, CLEAR’s first airport virtual queuing reservation system outside the U.S. came to be, at Calgary Int’l Airport. That was followed by a similar system at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, in August, 2022. Introduced in partnership with Copenhagen Optimization, it was the first time CLEAR had been used in Europe. CLEAR Reserve is now available in Amsterdam (AMS) and Munich (MUC).

CLEAR and Copenhagen Optimization are now partnering again, back in Canada. They’re now partnering with five of Canada’s largest airports to launch free virtual queuing programs under the brand name “Express powered by CLEAR.” The programs are now live at:

  • Edmonton International Airport (YEG)
  • Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL)
  • Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
  • Calgary International Airport (YYC)
  • Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ)

How it works:

  • Reserve: To use the free Express powered by CLEAR lanes, just visit the dedicated booking site for your airport where you can enter your flight details, the size of your party, and find a reservation time that works for you.
  • Confirm: Once you select your reservation time, finish booking by entering your email, and confirming your details. You’ll receive a confirmation email and QR code.
  • Go: When you arrive at airport security, look for signs pointing to the Express powered by CLEAR lane. Scan your QR code with airport staff and enjoy the fast lane right to screening and security.

These additions bring the total number of virtual queues run by CLEAR to 15. 12 in North America and 3 in Europe.

Since you seem to be following CLEAR developments, I wonder whether you have any incite on CLEAR’s absence in Philadelphia (PHL). My understanding (which may or may not be correct) is that American Airlines has been an impediment to opening up CLEAR in Philly for somewhat mysterious reason(s). ???

I have no inside info as to why CLEAR is not at PHL. However, the only busier airport that’s not on CLEAR is CLT, so the AA thread seems to be a reasonable explanation.
