American Airlines Lost Dave Baustita’s Luggage & He’s Not Happy

by SharonKurheg

The Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Air Travel Consumer Report reports that more than 684,000 bags were mishandled in the first quarter of 2022. They don’t divide those numbers into categories, but it’s safe to assume that some of the mishandled bags were broken (wheels or handles fell off, softsided bags were ripped, hardsided ones were dented or cracked, etc.) and others were just…lost.

Some checked bags that airlines lose are (happily) found relatively quickly. Others seemingly travel around the world (yay Air Tags!), disappear for weeks at a time, or are never found again, perhaps to be discovered by strangers at this place. Of course, there are some ways to help decrease the chances of your bags being lost. Unfortunately, you can be as diligent as can be, and your luggage can still get misplaced.

We can all agree that losing your checked bags, especially when you’re traveling to somewhere other than home, stinks. Important things you planned to have with you while away are gone and you either have to do some FAST shopping (ahem…not even an option for those who have to get all their clothes altered [Hi, I’m Sharon and I’m 4’6″. Height of a typical 10y/o, but with post-puberty womanly curves. Good times.]), or do without.

Dave Bautista is an American actor and retired professional wrestler. He participated in WWE events from 2002 to 2010, in 2014, and had one final run from 2018 to 2019. In his acting career, he’s most widely known for his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy series of movies. However, he’s also gotten accolades for portraying Glossu Rabban Harkonnen in the 2021 film Dune.

Dune: Part II has officially begun production and parts of the movie will be filmed in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy.

Bautista flew American Airlines to Hungary to meet the cast and crew for filming. He arrived in Budapest, but apparently his 3 bags did not. From his Instagram:

It’s been over a week and I keep checking Bautista’s Instagram. He’s updated it but still hasn’t mentioned his bags have been returned.

Unfortunately, that isn’t very surprising. A Facebook friend of mine went on an extended trip (a little less than 2 months) through Europe with her husband, to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Their bags disappeared on the way there. Two weeks after they arrived in Europe, her bags arrived…at their home in Florida…while they were still in Europe. Her husband’s bag arrived home 54 days after it was lost.

Hopefully, Dave Bautista will have better luck.
