Lounge Review: The Club MSY – New Orleans (Priority Pass Lounge)

by joeheg

Our trip to New Orleans for the Freddie Awards was our first chance to see the new version of the New Orleans Airport. We don’t remember much about the old terminal except that we had a horrible breakfast at Zatarain’s Kitchen before our flight.

The “new” New Orleans airport is nothing like the old facility. Plenty of natural light floods the white tile floors during the day. Even when we arrived after midnight, the airport still felt fresh.

We didn’t plan on stopping at a lounge before our flight home, but we found a Lyft quickly and the check-in process for Southwest was efficient. I quickly pulled up the Priority Pass app and found a nearby lounge. We’re fans of “The Club” locations at our hometown airport, so I wanted to see what The Club MSY had to offer.

The lounge is easily accessible from both the A and B terminals.

The Club MSY is located in Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Concourse A but Concourse B is directly in front of the lounge. Once you clear security, follow the signs for Concourse A past Cafe Du Mondé and take the elevator (on the right hand side) up to the 3rd floor.

It was a quick elevator ride up to the club where the desk agent welcomed us. I provided our Priority Pass card and we were granted access.

The club was empty on a Sunday morning.

Unlike other clubs with a buffet, this location has a unique way to order food. There were QR codes on the tables which opened up the menu. You picked out the items you wanted, and they were delivered to your seat. I’m not sure if this is a COVID thing or how the club will always work, but for the moment it was fine. I put in an order for a bagel with cream cheese and yogurt.

While it sounds like this system is to pay for food, every item on the menu was free. While I waited for my food, I grabbed a cup of coffee. Breakfast items are pretty standard but there’s a crawfish etouffee on the lunch/dinner menu that I wish we had a chance to try. We didn’t have long before our flight so after finishing our food, we headed to our gate.

The Club MSY was suitable for settling down and organizing before a flight. They have decent food options, drinks, and a bar if you’re imbibing before the flight. According to the website, the club has shower facilities but we didn’t get to check them out during our short stay.

We wouldn’t have stopped by if we didn’t get access from Priority Pass. However, the coffee was okay and considering the line at Cafe du Monde; this was a quicker way to grab a coffee before the flight.

Has anyone else had a chance to check out The Club MSY?
