I’m Close To A Hyatt Free Night, Thanks To The Brand Explorer Program

by joeheg

Since we’ve only started to stay at Hyatt hotels, I’m a relative novice dealing with the World of Hyatt program. Besides knowing the program has the most confusing category names (Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist), I don’t know much else. That’s probably because I’m never going to earn top-level Hyatt status and the levels below that aren’t worth much. I’ll earn points and free nights from the World of Hyatt card and transfer Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt when I want to book an award stay.

Given my lack of knowledge, I noticed something new (to me) when I was logged into my Hyatt account. I found a chart for the Brand Explorer program.

The Brand Explorer award program launched back in 2017. The program is easy to understand. You earn a free night at a category 1-4  property for every five Hyatt brands you visit. The nice thing is that Hyatt includes paid stays, award stays and free night certificate visits to your total.

I’d be real close to an award if our Hyatt CentricHyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Place or our stay at the Andaz West Hollywood properties counted but they all were before Brand Explorer started.

That means I’m currently at one brand with our recent stay at Gild Hall in New York, a Thompson Hotel. However, we have upcoming stays at a Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt. That will put us at three, only needing 2 more brands for a free night. We’re not Park Hyatt or Miraval types but I’m sure we can find a Hyatt Centric, Andaz, Hyatt Place or Hyatt House for our upcoming travels. Pairing that free night with the one from our credit card makes me want to spend the $15,000 on the Hyatt card this year for the extra free night. One free night is nice but having three free nights is a long weekend trip, which we’d value more.

This is a unique promotion to Hyatt and I think it’s a great idea. I’m looking forward to earning our first free night but I don’t think we’ll be completing a blackout on this bingo card anytime soon.
