Monkey Snuck Into Airport VIP Lounge, Grabbed A Beverage

by SharonKurheg

If it was a joke, I guess it would start off as, “A monkey walks into a bar…”

Well, he sort of did, anyway. He (or she?) snuck into one of the VIP lounges at Dehli Airport (a.k.a. Indira Gandhi International Airport) in New Delhi, India.

He/she/they didn’t hurt anyone – just drank some fruit juice at the bar, grabbed some food from the buffet, and left.

Of course, more than a few people caught video of the moment, which happened late last week. Here are two of them:

The lounge in question is the Plaza Premium Lounge, located in Terminal 3, Domestic (inside security).

Featuring stylish décor with comfortable sitting space, Plaza Premium Lounge is the ideal spot for travellers to freshen up with a shower; enjoy a selection of food to whet your appetite and a quick coffee before taking off. The lounge offers a scrumptious Indian buffet, special high-tea snacks prepared by our chefs in addition to full range of facilities including business stations, complimentary Wi-Fi, shower, international magazines and newspapers, spa and massage services. Do not miss our bar and choose from a selection of alcoholic drinks at additional charge.

As per Lounge Buddy, of the 12 lounges at DEL, it’s one of only 7 that have reopened so far.

Surprisingly (or not), this isn’t the first time a monkey has made it into a lounge at DEL. Not even the first time this year. Another primate made himself at home at a different lounge at DEL this past May:

Airport officials confirmed the (more recent) monkey was removed from the building safely, without any injuries to monkey or human.
