Earn An Easy $40 With These New AMEX Offers

by joeheg

There’s a reason why I love AMEX Offers. They’re the easiest way for cardholders to earn bonus points or cash back to offset the annual fees on their American Express cards. With all of the hassles redeeming some of the other AMEX credits, AMEX Offers are like AMEX putting money back in your pocket.

There are two new (to me) AMEX Offers that I noticed on my account today.

The first one I’m surely going to take advantage of.

Save on your cable or satellite TV bill. Spend $100 or more by 10/18/21, get $5 back. Up to 4 times. Enroll by 7/23/21.

Our cable/internet bill is one of our largest monthly expenses. Right now, I pay it with our Chase Ink Cash card and earn 5x Ultimate Rewards points per dollar.

For the moment, I’d prefer 5% cashback on each $100 that I charge to AMEX. Add to that the Membership Rewards points I already earn and I’m suddenly earning 6%.

The other AMEX Offer I have to think about.

Save on your cell phone bill. Spend $125 or more by 10/18/21, get $5 back. Up to 4 times. Enroll by 7/23/21.

Currently, I charge $10 of my cell phone bill to my Delta Business Gold AMEX card to use the statement credit provided for the rest of the year. The remaining balance each month is around $125. That’s the same amount I’d need to pay to use this offer and save $5. However, there’s one big difference between our cable bill and our cell phone bill.

I pay my cell phone bill with my Chase Ink Preferred to take advantage of the card’s insurance. If I’d switch to paying the bill with my AMEX card eligible for this offer, I’d lose out on that coverage. I’m willing to earn fewer points on my cell phone bill and get the insurance.

If you’re lucky enough to get this AMEX Offer on an AMEX card that provides cell phone protection, that would be the best of both worlds. I was not that lucky.

Check all of your AMEX cards to see if you’re targeted for these offers. I received them on my personal AMEX cards that earn Membership Rewards but not on any co-brand cards. American Express didn’t target Sharon for the offer yet, but I’ll keep looking.

Keep looking. Not all offers are loaded to accounts on the first day.
