Amazing Delta Gold AMEX Offer When Making Award Booking

by joeheg

An amazing signup offer for the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card just ended.  That offer provided 70,000 SkyMiles once meeting the $2,000 spending requirement.

Our new referral link is down to 40K points + a $50 statement credit for restaurant spending. With not much work I was able to find a 60K offer using Chrome’s Incognito mode.

Imagine my surprise when I found a much better offer when booking Delta flights to New York to position us for our trip to Iceland.

When I booked flights using my account, I didn’t see anything because I already have a Delta AMEX card.

However, when I booked flights using Sharon’s account this offer showed up when I was checking out.

This was a 90K Delta Gold AMEX offer. 70,000 SkyMiles with $2,000 spend plus 20,000 additional miles with a Delta purchase in the first three months. Paying the $11.20 in taxes on the award ticket I was booking with the card would trigger the bonus.

That’s the highest offer I can remember for the Delta Gold AMEX card. This offer did have the language on the signup bonus that it was only for those who have never held this card before and AMEX could deny anyone they decided was not eligible for the offer at their discretion. Because of AMEX and its RAT team.

I was able to trigger the same offer by making a dummy booking on Delta’s website. When I wasn’t logged into my SkyMiles account, the offer was to save $200 when paying for my ticket with the new card. (A dummy booking means you go through the steps to book any flight on Delta’s website and get to the payment screen. The credit card offer will show up on that page for you to enroll.)

You do need to make a Delta purchase to trigger the extra 20,000 SkyMiles, so if you’re not making a purchase that day, make sure to do so in the first 3 months of having the card.

This offer is better than the referral and public offer you’ll find right now. If you’re looking to pick up a bunch of SkyMiles and have never held the card before, this is a great deal. Just understand what SkyMiles are worth before you apply.
