Hilton Hotel Study Finds That 95% Of Americans Miss Traveling

This sounds like the beginning of an article from The Onion, doesn’t it? It’s not.

For reals, in what might be THE least surprising survey result of the year, a new study released by Hilton has determined that 95% of Americans miss traveling.

I know, right?

Anyway, 2,030 Americans aged 18+ were surveyed online about travel. According to the study, travel ranked near the top in creating “happy memories” for respondents. In fact, about 188 million Americans are ready to travel, despite the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

How important are these travel memories? 54% of those surveyed said that travel memories are more important than their favorite piece of jewelry, 53% say those memories are more important than their smartphone (y’all, that’s important! I LOVE my smartphone ;-))
26% value travel memories more than the possibility of winning the lottery and 17% prefer them over the potential of getting a promotion at work.
In total, 94% of those in the survey who typically travel plan to do so once restrictions (travel bans, quarantines, etc.) are no longer an issue. A full 66% will make travel a priority and plan to take bucket list trips once they can travel again.
Over a third of Americans plan to travel more often than they used to, and 62% plan to be more adventurous, with visits to locations they’ve never gone to before.
“Travelers have a pent-up yearning to get out of the home and reconnect with friends, family and the world around them,” said Mark Weinstein, senior vice president and global head, marketing and loyalty, Hilton.
Indeed.
