New Canadian Airline Will Feature Flights To Cuba

by SharonKurheg

Of all the craptacular things that have been happening in the travel industry during this pandemic, probably one of the last things you’d expect is for an airline to make its debut. Welp, think again.

We’ve already written about this airline, which will make its debut in the fall and will serve Europe and the U.S.

Now, apparently, there will be another one.

A new airline called OWG (it stands for Off We Go) will soon be flying out of Canada and its inaugural destination will be Cuba, including including Cayo Coco, Holguin, Santa Clara and Varadero.

The new carrier received the authorization from the Minister of Transport to provide regular international flight service on July 6th, and was introduced on July 7th.

OWG is a subsidiary of Nolinor Aviation, which is a charter airline based out of Quebec. 27-year-old Nolinar has mainly been flying to the Far North, with a fleet of about ten Boeing 737s.

The Nolinar team has been quietly working to create a new airline that would position them in the tourist market since 2018, and have invested over $1 million in their plan. To that end, the airline has announced a partnership with Hola Sun Holidays, a Canadian travel company based in Ontario.

As OWG President Marco Prud’Homme explains, “Flying to your destination should be an extension of your vacation. Traditional airlines have cut the quality of their services year after year, without considering the passenger experience. Our goal is to win the hearts of travelers with a new airline whose mission is to make passengers fall in love with flying again.”

Their plan is to launch a fleet of three Boeing 737-400sm which they acquired earlier this year. They chose that type of aircraft so they can provide more distant destinations without requiring stopovers.

Services are currently set to begin on November 1st of this year. Go to OWG’s website for more information.
