14 Ridiculous Questions About Traveling To Hawaii

by SharonKurheg

There are some people who have never traveled outside the U.S.. In fact, over 50% of Americans have never even had a passport (click here to read some more interesting stats about Americans and traveling, including the percentage that have never left the state where they were born) so they might have some questions when they finally get the opportunity to go abroad. Of course, most questions are usually nothing that a little Googling on their part would have fixed, but then we wouldn’t have these gems of stupid questions that have been asked of travel agents.

But then you’ve got Hawaii – thousands of miles in the Pacific ocean, and a state for “only” the past 60 years. It just seems to confuse an awful lot of people. These are some of the questions American travelers have asked about it.

This reinforces my belief that a large portion of Americans should be ruled too stupid to vote.

To be fair, a tetanus shot is probably a good idea if you aren’t smart enough to know Hawaii is in the US. Who knows what you might step on or rub up against? Probably should get a rabies shot while you are at it. There’s no rabies in Hawaii but you are going home at some point.

Or the best is when you here people saying they are taking their flight “back to the States”.
What I don’t understand is going to Waikiki and seeing long lines for uniquely Hawaiian restaurants like Cheesecake Factory.

Do you guys use canoes to get to other places? I’m over here thinking how tf did you get here by canoe. Does it rain? Is the grass green. Where are the dinosaurs? We ate them. Where’s your grass skirt? It’s hanging to dry. What happened to your grass shack? It burnt down. Do you take US currency/Do you use US currency? No we just take random pieces of green paper. How long does it take to get to the mainland from here? A long time. Do you ride dolphins? All the time. How do you communicate with the outside? We use carrier pigeons. Do you speak English (they literally yell this at you)? I usually use to say something in Hawaiian just for fun. Why are you speaking English? Why not. Do you all wear coconut bras and grass skirts? Yeah when we want to get frisky. Where’s the beach? I don’t know. How many beaches you got? A lot. Can you drive to the mainland from here? Yes but you need scuba gear first. Why is the military here did they invade you? Probably why don’t you walk onto a base and go ask them. Why doesn’t Pearl Harbor looked like it was bombed? Wait Pearl Harbor was bombed HOLY SH*T I DIDN”T KNOW THAT THE SIRENS DIDN’T GO OFF. The list goes on and on of stupid questions and my stupid answers.

But here is one, not a question but an observation, why does Hawaii have a road listed as an Interstate – H-1? :-O
I know why but it still seems weird.

Don’t know, but Florida, a peninsula, has the same thing in the form of I-4. 😉
