Help Us Plan Our Next Trip

by joeheg

Here we go again. It’s that time when I reach out to you, our readers, for suggestions. While we’ve visited London several times before, our trips have either been short stops or we’ve been busy doing other things, like the time Sharon was able to sing with her choir at Royal Albert Hall and I flew over for two days to see the concert and then flew home.

Needless to say, those trips, while fun, didn’t have much time for sightseeing. And now, all of a sudden, we’re going to London for a week in just two months and have no idea what to do. We’ve covered most of the big tourist places already, like the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. We’ve also gone to Stonehenge and Oxford and don’t need to visit them again. We’ve been to the Harry Potter exhibit twice. I climbed to the top of St. Paul’s Cathedral on our first trip and we went for tea in the crypt on our last trip.

The one thing we don’t need to see, but probably will, is more Harry Potter filming locations. It’s become a thing for us.

When I’ve turned to you for suggestions before you’ve never let me down. We loved the places you suggested for our previous trips:

I guess I could always go to Visitacity and have them provide me an itinerary but I’d much rather hear from you. It doesn’t just have to be a sightseeing location. Do you have a favorite bar or restaurant? What about if there’s a great walking tour? Anything’s game. I’m not saying we’re going to do everything you suggest but we’ll most likely pick out a couple of them that sound interesting. We’d even be up for a day trip since we have the time. We’re much smarter than we were on our first trip where we planned on going to three places by train on a single day. Boy, were we stupid.

I mean, I really need your help. If not, Sharon’s gonna drag me back to go see the London Dungeon again cause it’s the cheesiest of the cheesy attractions we’ve ever visited (Note from Sharon: I’ve got news for you, my love…we’re going. Period. BTW, did you know that if you Google “cheesy” and “London,” you get a bunch of sites that have to do with actual, literal cheese? But yeah, if you know of any cheesy places [not real cheese, please. I mean fun, silly, stupid places cheesy], PLEASE let us know!).

I’ll just be sure to pack our Oyster cards. Might as well get one more use out of them before the system goes totally to contactless payments.
