USA TODAY has been running their 10Best Readers’ Choice awards since 2013. Categories run the gamut from cruise ships to romantic dining spots to holiday lights to gifts for road trippers and in 2016, they added categories that reflect airports. We got wind that voting for the airport categories are going on right now, so we wanted to give you a little more info, in case you’d like to vote for your favorites.
All 10Best contests are travel-based and fit into the broad categories of Attractions, Destinations, Food & Drink, Gear & Tech, Holidays, Seasons & Events, Hotels, Transportation (that’s where the Airport categories fit in) and Traveler Type. Pretty much, if it’s travel related, there’s a 10Best contest for that ;-).
Each type of contest is run seasonally and all winners are chosen by readers’ votes. Right now, airport dining, bars, shopping and amenities are being voted on. From USATODAY’s website:
Each category has a certain number of nominees (usually 15, but one or two only have 12 nominees) and you have the ability to “Explore & Vote” for each nominee. For example, if you were to check out Cask & Larder (they’re an awesome restaurant at Orlando Int’l Airport – here’s the write up we did of them) in the categories of Best Airport Local/Regional Dining or Best Airport Bar/Restaurant Atmosphere (cuz yup, they got TWO nominations!), you’d see the following:
As per USATODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice official rules: Voting can be once per day, per category, and voting for the Airport categories ends at noon ET on January 28, 2019. Voters must be age 18+. Residents of a European Union member state and individuals accessing the voting website from the European Union are not eligible to submit votes.
At the end of the voting period, the nominated businesses that have received the most eligible votes will be designated as the Readers’ Choice for their respective categories and be awarded a badge of recognition as the 10Best Readers’ Choice. They then announce the winners sometime in March.
Here are the winners for 2016, 2017 and 2018.
