How To Get Into Airport Lounges When Flying JetBlue From NYC To Orlando

by joeheg

One of the big perks of being a frequent flyer with one of the “big three” U.S. airlines (American, Delta, and United) is access to airport lounges. These spaces are less crowded places to wait for your flight compared to the chaos that is the norm near the gates. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to charge your electronics, snack on some cookies or veggies and even treat yourself to something from the bar. Even if the airlines have started to charge for better snacks and drinks, it’s still better than sitting at the gate.

You’d think if you’re on your way to a vacation at Disney World or Universal Studios in Orlando from the New York/New Jersey area and decide to take JetBlue that you’d be out of luck for getting into an airport lounge before your flight, right? Wrong!

NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY

JFK AIRPORT

If you’re flying out of JFK Airport, JetBlue flies from Terminal 5. The only lounges are for Aer Lingus Passengers and a landside USO Lounge. But since JFK is one of JetBlue’s major hubs, T5 is a decent place to spend time even without a lounge. There’s free WiFi as well as a rooftop terrace.

NEWARK AIRPORT

JetBlue has moved out of the closed Terminal A, which was worn out and crowded.

They now fly out of the newly opened Terminal A.

There still aren’t any lounges in Terminal A, but there are plenty of places to eat, drink or relax while you wait for your flight.

If you’re looking to visit the other terminals, you’re out of luck as the new terminal is not yet connected to the AirTrain. You’d have to take a bus to the rental car station and then board the AirTrain which doesn’t seem to be worth it to visit a lounge.

LAGUARDIA AIRPORT

JetBlue flyers from LaGuardia who have an AMEX Platinum card can use the Centurion Lounge in Terminal B.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY AIRPORT

Sorry if you’re flying from Westchester County Airport as there are no lounges.

ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

You’re all done with your trip and now it’s the flight home. Luckily, I’ve covered all the lounges in Orlando Airport.

JetBlue recently moved to the brand new Terminal C where you can find the Plaza Premium Lounge.

While this lounge is meant for international business class travelers, you can enter if you have an American Express Platinum or Capital One Venture X card.

When we visited, the lounge was crowded because of delayed flights. If you don’t have access to the lounge, there are plenty of places to hang out and have a drink or a meal in Terminal C.

FINAL THOUGHTS

So there you have it. Laguardia Airport is the only NY location with a lounge accessible for JetBlue passengers. However, the terminals at JFK and Newark are new with plenty of places to wait for your flight.

Flying home from Orlando, you’ll get to see the new Terminal C. If you have the right credit card, you can visit a lounge but there are plenty of other places to eat while you wait for your flight.

NYC airports are third world. What a disgrace they are. But then almost all US airports are horrible.

Just returned from a cruise out of Orlando and utilized both the Delta lounge (free for Platinum Amex cardholder, guests @ $39/ea) and Club MCO (free with Priority Pass membership + free 2 guests). Delta lounge had hot served food and better drink. Club MCO had more snack like food and less desirable beer choices. Furniture in Club MCO were really beat up and dirty and majorly stained. The only thing worth these lounges was that you were away from the masses in the airport (especially on a Saturday after cruise passengers fly home qith several ships returning to port).

What Per said.
JFK T5, where a bagel and cream cheese is $13+ change (that’s if you decline their add-on a tip suggestion). The bakery that made the bagel? US Food Service. Awful.

NYC airports the worst. For over a decade they (+ surrounding roads) have been on teardown & rebuild permanent installment plan. There hasn’t been any period where all terminals have been in full unrestricted use. You need to sit, you do it on the floor. You need to charge phone, good luck. Hungry? Go to a different terminal.
Billions spent for each terminal that’s basically a painted over tin shell. Uber corruption in plain view.
