I previously wrote about the winter promotions for IHG and Hilton. But with all of the Hurricane Irma excitement, I missed out on the promos that Starwood and Marriott announced this past week. Now that things are getting back to normal, I’m checking to see if any of these are valuable. As always, if you think you might be eligible for any promotion, it pays to register even if you don’t take advantage of it. Otherwise you might forget or miss out on the registration date.
Here are the details for each promotion:
As is the usual for Starwood promotions of late, they’re offering bonus points for each stay at one of their hotel brands (more points for the more expensive locations). You have to register by November 30, 2017 so you can earn the bonus at participating SPG® hotels between September 12, 2017, and January 15, 2018:
- 1,000 bonus Starpoints® per stay at St. Regis®, The Luxury Collection®, W®, Le Méridien®, Westin®, Sheraton®, Tribute Portfolio™ and Design Hotels™
- 500 bonus Starpoints per stay at Aloft®, ElementSM and Four Points®
- 10,000 bonus Starpoints when you stay 25 or more nights
You can read the FAQ for the promotion here. Unfortunately, it seems that several of the hotels are NOT participating in this promotion. I’d suggest checking the list of hotels to find those offering 500 or 1,000 points before making any reservations specifically to earn the extra points.
The Marriott MegaBonus offer is back. This offer is very popular with Marriott loyalists who stay at their hotels often. After two stays, you receive a free night at any category 1-5 Marriott hotel.
- Register by November 30, 2017
- Stay at any of our participating hotels and resorts worldwide between September 12 and January 15, 2018
- Earn a free night after two paid stays*.
Unlike the Starwood promotion, almost all Marriott hotels and brands are eligible for this promotion. I already have a Marriott stay planned during the promotion so if I have any other hotel needs until January, I’ll look at Marriott’s first, because staying one more time will earn me a free hotel night.
The full Terms and Conditions of the MegaBonus promotion can be found here.
As always, it never hurts to sign up for hotel promotions. Even if you don’t use them, it only takes a minute or two. They could be worth a few thousand points or even a free night at a hotel if you do.
